Health and Wellness

BCCS Places A Strong Emphasis On Good Nutrition And Making Healthy Food Choices.

Research shows that two components, good nutrition and physical activity before, during, and after the school day, are strongly correlated with positive student outcomes.
BCCS is committed to working with families and the community to ensure that all students graduate knowing how to take care of their minds, their bodies, and those around them. For students to have the opportunity to achieve personal, academic, developmental, and social success, they need positive, supportive, and health-promoting learning environments at every level, in every setting, throughout the school year.
Packed lunches and snacks from home must meet the requirements of our healthy food policy. A full, healthy lunch is provided by the DOE. The menu can be found online here. For students who choose to bring their own lunch, we advise packing a well-balanced meal.

Family Engagement

At BCCS, parents and guardians are vital to the success of our students. Studies have shown when parents are active participants in their children’s education, families, guardians, teachers, and schools all benefit greatly!

Alternative Lunch Menu

Brighter Choice Community School has proudly and successfully implemented the Alternative Lunch Menu.
Each school day New York City Public School students are able to enjoy FREE breakfast and lunch meals. Parents and guardians can return a completed paper application to their child’s school or they can apply online at www.myschoolapps.com/Application using any electronic device with an internet connection. Households need to complete only one application for all children living in a home attending Pre-k to high school.
